Jan 08, Tina rated it really liked it Shelves: assholish-hero , favourite-couple , celibate-after-meeting , ex-manwhore , favorites , great-epilogue , hea , illness-in-family , loved-how-he-loved-her , ow-drama.
First, I think the book was beautifully written, the words were wonderful as to say and the flow was amazing. I really think Mia Sheridan is talented author, but what I usually have problem with her books is the plot, mainly her books are not safe for me by my standards most times. Here thankfully that wasn't a problem except the exception - read in safety gang spoilers 3. Here thankfully that wasn't a problem except the exception - read in safety gang spoilers so I could finally enjoy one of her books. I cried a lot of times in this book, the heroine went through so much, and how she found the will to live and look for beautiful in this world is really courageous.
It really take strength to be kind when life wasn't easy for you. I usually love my heroines kind of brash and sassy, because a lot of times i associate these things with having strength but in some cases that isn't true. Isabelle was quiet and sheltered, and a few times she got on my nerves because she has fallen with Brant, but when you look at her story she was one of the strongest heroine I have ever read and I really admire this woman, and I liked her a lot. The hero had his asshole moments, but he was really in love with the heroine, although he was an idiot to realize it, I really liked how he loved her, and I kinda can understand where all the weariness comes from, he had his share of pain.
He was kind of assholish hero that I have taken likening at the end. Although I would give him a slap or two if I was in heroine's place, but that's just me. I guess we are all fools in love. What I didn't like was predictability of the mystery, it kinda because obvious at half of the book and I think it was unnecessary. Don't read this if you don't want spoiler about one of the 'twists' : view spoiler [ I hate when in books you don't have others good woman beside heroine, of course there was May but she wasn't Isabelle's age and I really wanted for her to have a real friend.
I get it, one of the reason why she didn't was because of her upbringing but I really think it was unnecessary to have a friend be mean and crazy after all, and we had those catty reporters and lot of mean girls in bathroom at one of the clubs. Like wtf, can we have at least one normal woman who wouldn't be a bitch towards the heroine?? Jan 11, Ira rated it really liked it Shelves: kindle-unlimited , strong-heroine , contemporary , kids-in-the-story. I like this heroine and the story was good too. I would like to read Aaron story too, if he will get one:. As part of the healing process she gets involved in horse therapy and that is how she ends up living and working at Graystone Hill for Mr Talbot.
Mr Talbot senior lives alone after his wife passed away and his son Brant left soon after, vowing never to return again. When his health goes into further decline he knows he needs to start making some plans about what to do about the future of Graystone Hill. Isabelle finds out about the existence of Brant Talbot quite by accident and decides to make contact with him so that he is aware of just how ill his father is.
She treasures family and even if there is beef between these two men, surely they can put it aside and come to some sort of resolution. Life is too short to waste time on petty arguments. Kind of a relief really because he is intensely attracted to her and drawn to the sadness behind her eyes. There is something about her that calls to him and he wants to know her story.
Isabelle was not looking but seems to have found something wonderful in this new found friendship with Brant. She has been alone for a few years now and having a man look at her the way Brant does is something she has never experienced before. It gives her hope that she can one day love again. As much as she enjoys being with Brant, they have completely different lives, she lives in the home he associates with terrible memories and he lives in the fast pace of NY city.
As well as this developing relationship with Brant, Isabelle is determined to figure out the mystery that surrounds what happened the night that everything changed for her. She needs answers to put the past behind her, only then can she truly move on. A great weekend read for me. I loved the narration, especially Jacob Morgan Zachary Webber. This was the next book in the Sign of Love series.
Jan 11, Anna rated it really liked it. Two different tragedies. One path Shattered dreams and hopes. One strong love Beautifully written story, with right proportions of suspense, romance and angsty thriller. What a roller coaster! What a great final twist. What can I say about main characters, I liked them. You should know in your 30 when and what to tell your woman! And when you should stay silent. Safety: very manho before heroine, faithful to her since meeting. Crazy e Two different tragedies. Crazy ex girlfriend, scene where she kissed her. Grovelling, I'd prefer much more.
Wasn't enough for me. Heroine, well, Mia Sheridan made her Amish, she was Amish till her Rebel Amish. She dreamed a lot and wanted to see the world. She escaped Amish culture with her late husband. Although she didn't have enjoyable sex life and only one partner before hero, she chooses just have sex with him, not marriage, not serious relationship. I liked her for not giving up on her dreams, personal and professional. I didn't like parents of both MCs didn't tell them some important things, a lot of tragedies wouldn't be.

Loss, love and redemption Oh and an arranged marriage! The writing as always was beautiful and emotional. The man was no longer my father. There was no need to do it twice. She took great comfort in equine therapy and began work as an Loss, love and redemption She took great comfort in equine therapy and began work as an assistant to the wealthy owner of a farm in Kentucky.
I loved the gorgeous descriptions of the Kentucky countryside. Her employer was estranged from his son Brant, but Isabelle takes it upon herself to contact Brant so that he can visit his father, who was suffering from a terminal illness. Brant and Isabelle could not be more different! When he fled his home in Kentucky, he never looked back. When he returns home, he is immediately suspicious of Isabelle, wrongly assuming she is his father's girlfriend. Brant overcomes his natural cynicism and begins to see what a beautiful, sweet and pure woman Isabelle truly is.
She is selfless, and a far cry from the women he usually dated in New York City. They have a fiery passion, but they are from such different worlds. Would they ever be able to overcome their emotional scars? Many relationships are mended in this book and I loved the element of suspense. I loved it! I want your devotion to be pure, not inspired by fear, but inspired by love. Jan 05, Jennifer rated it really liked it Shelves: coyer-winter-challenge , bnb-challenge.
So all of the reviews before January are for the audio version. I am reviewing the e-book. I am a big fan of the author's Sign of Love series. This book is Capricorn. This book is contemporary romance and is a standalone. It features both the male and female 1st person POVs. I enjoyed this book very much. I have been looking forward to the e-book's release ever since the audiobook came out last summer. I was not disappointed.
This book h 4. This book had everything. A wonderful heroine, a cocky hero, and some amazing side characters. The book starts with a chilling prologue. I was not sure if the person in the prologue was the heroine. Or at what point in time it was taking place. But I was completely invested in the story right from the start. Isabelle is the female narrator. The book starts with her in Kentucky.
I really liked Isabelle and was very intrigued by her back story. The stuff about her parents, how and where she grew up, and the mystery with Ethan Brant is the male narrator. It took me a lot longer to warm up to him. He was really a jerk at times. But I was interested in his job, his lifestyle and his relationship with his dad.
Things that I loved about this book. I loved Brant's father. I loved the horses. I adored the mystery aspect to the story. This book was charming, yet sexy, with enough surprises to keep me both entertained and intrigued. An emotional and heartbreaking story of second chances — and much more. From Amish culture to the horse farms of Kentucky to the nightlife of New York City, Mia Sheridan gives readers a love story that has all the feels, characters that are easy to love, lots of chemistry and settings meant to make a statement, along with a bit of suspense thrown into the mix.
I only cut the point because heroine overshadowed hero. Belle is so strong, emotional, a survivor who is embracing her pain , past traumatic experiences. But I found Brant a little shallow when I compare him with her. I also expected the final twist but I only cut the point because heroine overshadowed hero. I also expected the final twist but I still liked this book.
Jan 08, Curlyhairlass19 rated it it was amazing. As always Mia Sheridan did not disappoint. The things horrors that they went through and how it effected them in their lives concerning everything, but especially love. I love how they had to work through it to get to the deep, core issues that was hindering them from opening themselves up and being vulnerable to each other.
I absolutely enjoyed Belle. I love a heroine with gumption and grit. Brant I Immediately fell for. I knew his game, and the hurt that was beneath to make him the way he was. The process that he went through so that the truth of all the matters could smack him clear in the face was magical.
Never stop. Jun 01, Antonella rated it did not like it Shelves: not-feelin-it , dnf , don-t-care-anymore. I guess to read it and love it you have to be into these characters, and it's safe to say that ain't me. Sadly, because I am usually a reader of books by this author and this kind of plot line.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. After a couple more demands for the answer she wanted, she slapped my face, knocking off my glasses. I thought they would look cool if I cut off a couple of the belt loops.
On May 23, , Moses has written a new essay where he has confirmed that Mia Farrow was abusive:. The summer between first and second grades, she was having new wallpaper installed in the bedroom I slept in, across the hall from hers on the second floor of the Connecticut house. I was getting ready to go to sleep, when my mother came over to my bed and found a tape measure. She gave me a piercing look that stopped me in my tracks and asked if I had taken it, as she had been looking for it all day.
I stood in front of her, frozen. She asked why it was on my bed. She asked again and again and again. She told me I was lying and directed me to tell my brothers and sisters that I had taken the tape measure. Through my tears I listened to her as she explained that we would rehearse what should have happened. She would walk into the room and I would tell her I was sorry for taking the tape measure, that I had taken it to play with and that I would never do it again.

She would also tip me upside down, holding me by my feet, to get the blood to drain to my head.
Because she thought — or she read it, God knows where she came up with the notion — that blood going to my head would make me smarter or something.
